Bracell produces three main product lines[viii]:

·        Rayon-grade dissolving pulp, which is used in products such as viscose fabrics, baby wipes and cellophane packaging

·        Specialty cellulose for products such as pharmaceutical and food products, inks and tires

·        Kraft pulp for printing and writing paper, toilet paper, and packaging

History and expansion[edit]

Bracell began operations in Brazil in 2003 with the acquisition of BSC (Bahia Specialty Cellulose) and Copener (Florestal) in Bahia[ix]

The company was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2010 as Sateri Holdings Limited[x][xi][xii]. In December 2014 the company’s viscose staple fibre business in China was spun off, and the remaining business was rebranded Bracell Limited in February 2015[xiii].

In 2016 Bracell completed a US$1.1 billion privatization and was withdrawn from the Hong Kong stock exchange[xiv],[xv] [xvi]. The company became part of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group, which also manages companies in paper, palm oil, and energy[xvii].

In August 2018 RGE completed the acquisition of Lwarcel Celulose from Lwart Group, including a 250,000 ton pulp mill in São Paulo, Brazil[xviii][xix][xx].

In 2019, RGE announced that Bahia Specialty Cellulose (BSC) in Camacari, Bahia, and Lwarcel Celulose in Lençóis Paulista, São Paulo, would operate under the unified Bracell brand[xxi][xxii].

At the same time RGE also announced an expansion of production capacity in São Paulo from 250,000 tons per year to 1.5m tons, giving Bracell a total capacity of 2 million tons of dissolving pulp. The project represents the largest investment in the state of São Paulo in 20 years and will employ up to 7,500 workers until completion in 2021[xxiii][xxiv].
