Branko Jovanović Bako (Vienna, 1988) is a Serbian musician, tambourine player, guitarist, the world's first tambourine player, performer of traditional and international music, often combined with modern sounds. He began to express his interest in music and playing as a child.

Biography[edit]

He was born on April 30, 1988, in Vienna. Growing up in a musical family, with instruments such as the tambourine (basprim) and guitars that were always nearby, Bako began to express his interest in playing as a child. He learned to play instruments from his uncle, guitarist Dragan Jovanović Sanjika.

From the age of fifteen, he had the opportunity to play in front of audiences in Berlin, Oslo, Tilburg, Osaka, Trrossingen, Udine, Portimao, Rostov, Madrid, Paris, London and Vienna. He won all the first places at eminent competitions in Pancevo, Starcevo, Novi Sad, Deronje - Serbia, Montenegro - Bijelo Polje, Germany, Norway, Japan, Italy, France, Austria, Russia and Portugal.

After graduating from music school, classical guitar department, Bako began to transfer his acquired knowledge to the tambourine.

Career[edit]

In 2007, KID "Pčesa" from Novi Sad, at its traditional manifestation "Golden Nightingale" for the best tambourine player, awarded the first place to Branko Bako Jovanovic.

At the World Tamburitza Festival, "Tamburica Fest", the third in a row, which was held in 2010 in Deronje, Branko Bako Jovanović received the award for best tambourine player and became the world's first tamburitza.

With the Piller brothers, the winners of the "I have a talent" competition, he founded the "Pillers" quartet and in 2016 in Portugal at the Trophee Mondiale festival, they won and once again confirm themselves as world champions.

As a studio musician, he had the opportunity to work on projects for recording songs by big stars such as Saban Saulic, Lepa Brena, Haris Dzinovic, Ljuba Alicic, Slavko Banjac, Danka Stoiljkovic, Beki Bekic, Snezana Djurisic, Zvonko Bogdan, Natasa Matic, Dejan Matic , Nemanja Nikolic, Ivan Kurtic, Acko Nezirovic, Renato Henc, Igor Jotic, Bosko Jovanovic - Boskic, Zvezdana Bijelanovic, Bora Jovanovic - Mercedes, Olivera Markovic, Milena Jovanovic and many others. On the recording of the album of the actress Mercedes Echerer , Bako had the honor of recording an incredible solo point on the song "Schnuckenack", while in other songs this album shone with the accompanying performance of the maestro on the tambourine.

In his career so far, he has been a guest at big concerts of famous stars such as: Danka Stojiljkovic, Lepa Brena, Zoran Kalezic, Nemanja Nikolic, Merima Njegomir, as well as many others. At these concerts, he justified the trust placed in him, he received a standing ovation and they were immortalized as a great success in the live performance of these stars.

The performance with Stochelo Rosenberg was a unique opportunity to meet the great guitarist, and his lifelong wish to perform together on stage came true. As a special guest at the concert of Ljubisa Pavkovic, he had the opportunity to perform two songs with excellent virtuosos of folk music.

He also performed with large orchestras such as the "RTS Orchestra" - Vlada Panovic, "Gipsy rhapsody band" - Perica Vasic, as well as with many others.

Currently, Bako is actively performing with the orchestra "Rumanisches Roulette" and with his orchestra "Branko Bako Jovanovic" at domestic and foreign performances (worldwide).
