The Brazil–Sweden football rivalry is a highly competitive sports rivalry that exists between the national men's football teams of Brazil and Sweden. The clashes between the two countries has since the very first match in 1938, and often attracts the large crowds of both sides. Brazil leads the series with 10 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses.[1]

History[edit]

Despite geographical distance, two nations share significant similarities. Two national teams share similar home jersey colors, yellow and blue; as well as the blue jerseys away. Although the ill-feeling is mainly from the Swedish side, this rivalry is still noted because it usually has ties with the successes of Brazil national team. Brazil's first successes in international arena emerged with their victory over Sweden in 1938, and Brazil's first international World Cup title was also come from the final of 1958 FIFA World Cup against host Sweden. For the Brazilians, Sweden often brings them luck and good memoirs; for the Swedes, Brazil is a fierce rival the Swedes determined to win.
