Brendan Sweeney
Brendan Sweeney (born July 17, 1993) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for the 2016 film, Kiss Me Goodbye.[1]
Career[edit]
Beginning his career in 2013, while still in film school, Sweeney directed commercials and short films in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[2] His work was received well which led to receiving larger funding and audiences with his most recent film, Kiss Me Goodbye,[3] which is currently circulating the film festival circuit. He obtained access to key Pittsburgh locations, such as Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, and the Produce Terminal in Pittsburgh's infamous Strip District.[4]
Sweeney moved to Los Angeles in 2016 where he is pursuing work as a director. An advocate for film, Sweeney has spoken out for the use of film in the Film vs. Digital debate. He references the works of great filmmakers who continue to use film, such as: Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, and Quentin Tarantino.[5]
Personal life[edit]
Sweeney was born in Belvidere, New Jersey. His mother is a Colombian immigrant and his father, a Pittsburgh native, is a Vietnam veteran.
