Brennan Russell Malone (born September 8, 2000) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Malone attended high school at IMG Academy, Bradenton, FL where he was a standout pitcher who could throw 97 mph.[2] He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 33rd pick in the first round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft. Prep Baseball Report named Malone Florida Player of the Year on June 17, 2019.[3]

Career[edit]

Malone attended Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, North Carolina[4] before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his senior year.[5][6][7] He committed to play college baseball at the University of North Carolina.

Malone was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft.[8][9] He signed for $2.2 million.[10][11] Malone was one of only three high school pitchers selected in the first round of the 2019 MLB draft.[12]
