An American academic and digital artist. Born in St. Louis (1973), Biermann is a graduate of the University of Missouri and the University of Amsterdam where he did his doctoral work under the supervision of Prof. dr. Mieke Bal.[1] As an academic, he has served as Asst. Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, Associate Professor of Digital Media at CAVAD, and Senior Civic Media Fellow at USC - Annenberg's Innovation Lab.[2][3] As a digital artist, Biermann is recognized as the pioneer of the large-scale, outdoor augmented reality mural.[4] Additionally, he works under the artist name HVY and specializes in NFT cryptoart and VFX.[5][6]
