Brian Van Brunt is an author and expert in the fields of threat assessment, behavioral intervention, mental health, and violence prevention.

Professional Career

Brian started his career providing case management services through the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. He then worked coordinating involuntary psychiatric commitments for law enforcement and hospital emergency departments before moving into academia. He served as the Director of Counseling at New England College and the Director of the Counseling and Testing Center at Western Kentucky University.[2]

In 2013, Brian joined TNG, first as the Vice President for Professional Programs, then the Executive Director of the National Behavioral Intervention Team Association (NaBITA).[3] In 2019, he was named a partner with TNG and the President of NaBITA.[4] After leaving TNG in 2021, Brian served as Assistant Deputy Director of Training for Secure Community Network[5], before joining the Safety Division of DPrep in 2022, where he currently serves as the Director of Behavior and Threat Management.[6]
