Bright Magic is the fourth studio album by British art rock band Public Service Broadcasting, released on 24 September 2021. It is a concept album focusing on the history of the Berlin. The album marks a departure for the band because it features less archival footage, unlike the previous albums Inform-Educate-Entertain (2013), The Race for Space (2015), and Every Valley (2017), and features more vocal samples from artists like EERA, Blixa Bargeld and Nina Hoss.

Bright Magic was recorded in Berlin at the Hansa Tonstudio. The album was released by Play It Again Sam and peaked at #3 in the UK Charts.

Background

Bright Magic has been described as "an album about moving to Berlin to write an album about people who move to Berlin to write an album" by the band's lead writer J. Wilgoose Esq. in an interview for Guitar.com. Wilgoose relocated to Berlin for nine months to write the album. The inspiration for the album came three years earlier, when Wilgoose first heard Walter Ruttmann's 1930 music montage and ode to Berlin, Wochenende.

The album was recorded at the Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin.
