Brightspot is an American technology company that develops enterprise content management system and digital experience platforms.[1] Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, it provides services for organizations in media, retail, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. The company was founded in 2008 as Perfect Sense Digital and rebranded as Brightspot in 2020.
History
Brightspot was established in 2008 as Perfect Sense Digital by David Gang and Lisa Beaudoin.[2][3][4] Initially, the company provided digital content management solutions for media organizations, including HGTV and Food Network under Scripps Networks Interactive.[5] By 2013, it served Walmart and U.S. News & World Report.[5] In 2017, Carrick Capital Partners invested $22 million in the company.[6][7][8]
In August 2020, Perfect Sense Digital was rebranded as Brightspot.[2][9]
Products and services
Brightspot provides a content management system that supports headless and decoupled architectures.[10][11] The platform integrates content management, digital asset management, and OTT video delivery, and includes workflow automation and security measures.[12][13]
In 2019, the platform expanded to include pre-built modules, integrations, migration tools, and front-end themes to support faster deployment.[14] The platform works with third-party providers such as Semji,[15][16] and Wizeline for AI-powered SEO tools and enterprise CMS deployments.[17] In 2023, Brightspot integrated with OpenAI to incorporate AI capabilities into its platform.[18][19][20][21][22][23] As of 2024, Brightspot held 18 patents and two registered trademarks, supporting multi-channel publishing with cloud-based and on-premises deployment options.
Operations
Brightspot serves organizations in media, retail, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. Users include AP News, Walmart, Politico, Univision, and Scripps Networks Interactive.[24] Nonprofit engagements have included the Special Olympics, and the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.[25][11]
