Brijesh Sharma (born (1998-12-16)16 December 1998) is an Indian cricketer who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He is a right-arm medium bowler and a right-handed batsman.

Early life

Sharma was born on 16 December 1998 in Dandial, a locality in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir. His father worked as a manual laborer and his mother worked as a school sweeper. Growing up with very limited means, Brijesh often lacked the money for basic food and frequently had to borrow shoes to play in U-19 state matches.

To improve his game, he moved to Delhi around 2021-2022 to train under coach Deepak Punia at the Unique Sports Club. Punia helped him channel his tennis-ball arm speed into formal cricket, building up his pace to clock consistently in the 140 kmph range. By the time the U23 level came about, the competition gave him a reality check. He eventually shifted base to Kolkata, representing the Cricket Association of Bengal.[1]

Career

In the 2025 season of the Bengal Pro T20 League, he played for Sobisco Smashers Malda which was being led by Mukesh Kumar. He ended his season with 11 wickets in 7 matches. This caught the eyes of the Rajasthan Royals talent scout. In the 2026 IPL Auction, he was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for a price of ₹30 Lakhs.[2]

Without having played a single senior first-class or List A match at the time, he made his direct Indian Premier League debut against Chennai Super Kings on 30 March 2026.[3][4] He conceded just 17 runs in his spell of 3 overs and took a wicket of Kartik Sharma.[5] He took a total of 14 wickets in 13 matches and helped RR to reach the Qualifier 2 of the tournament.[6]

He is set to make his debut for Jammu & Kashmir in the 2026-27 domestic season.[7]
