Brijwood
Brijbhasha Cinema refers to films produced in the Braj Bhasha language in state of Western Uttar Pradesh.[1] Braj Bhasha language films present Brij culture mainly to rural people, predominant in the nebulous Braj region centred around Mathura, Agra, Aligarh and Hathras in Western Uttar Pradesh and Bharatpur and Dholpur in Rajasthan. It is the predominant language in the central stretch of the Ganges-Yamuna Doab in Uttar Pradesh. The first Brij Bhasha movie India was Brij Bhoomi (1982) which was a made by famous actor,producer & director late Shiv Kumar. success throughout the country. His last feature film Krishna Tere Desh Main (Hindi) presented culture of Brij.[2]

Veteran actor, producer & director late Shiv Kumar was pioneer of Brajbhasha Cinema (Brajbhasha language film industry). In year 1982, he produced first ever Braj Bhasha language movie Brij Bhoomi. Brij Bhoomi which was a success throughout the country. Famous Social activist, Politician, Film & TV actor Raja Bundela begun his career from this movie.[3] Shiv Kumar made many feature films in Brajbhasha language like Lallu Ram (1985), Mati Balidan Ki (1986) & Krishna Tere Desh Main (2003). His last feature film in Brabhasha language Brij Ki Brajbala uncompleted for his dead. [4]
After that famous humorous poet late Kaka Hathrasi also made another Brijbhasha language feature film Jamuna Kinare in 1983. His son Dr. Lakshminarayan Garg did music & direction of this movie. Hindi's leading poet Ashok Chakradhar completed story & screenplay, which is son-in-law of Kaka ji (Kaka Hathrasi's niece's BageShree's husband).[5][6].This movie shows entire Brij culture throw folk genre like Nautanki, Dhola, Swang, Nautanki etc. [7]
After 17 years later, Mathura based film producer & director Siddharth Nagar made another feature film in the Braj Bhasha language, “Braj Kau Briju” in year 2000.[8][9].This film wrote by his mother & famous screenplay writer Mrs Achala Nagar[10](daughter of eminent Hindi language writer late Amritlal Nagar)[11] & acted by his elder brother & dramatist late Sandeepan Nagar. [12][13] Hindi Bollywood actor Brijendra Kala started his career from this movie.
