Britani Underwood (born June 1, 1971) is an American actress, voiceover artist and professional dancer. She is best known for her role as Kelly Powers in The RM (2003) and as Kate Jaymes in Mobsters and Mormons (2005). Recently, she appeared in the TV movie The Mistle-Tones as Staci.[citation needed]

Life and career[edit]

At her early age, she started touring with her family doing musical shows. Her parents and all four of her siblings were part of the family performances, calling themselves "The Martin Show". She also began modeling at the age of 16, shooting a variety of advertisements and more than 46 national commercials, including those for ABC Family, Toyota, Disney Channel. Underwood is also the main actress on the AutoNet TV channel.

Education and early work[edit]

Underwood graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. While attending university, she received the critic's acclaim for her performances in musical Anything Goes and Evita, as published in the newspapers Daily Herald in Utah and The Salt Lake Tribune.

Briefly, after graduation, Underwood signed a record deal with Disney to sing "Part of Your World" and "Celebrate the Magic of Disney". The Walt Disney Company then signed her up for a one-year contract working in Tokyo Disneyland and recording their lip-synch tracks for their live performance stage shows. While staying in Japan, she also landed employment as a commercial model and played small roles in Japanese soap operas. In the popular Japanese police comedy-drama Bayside Shakedown (踊る大捜査線, Odoru Daisōsasen), Underwood appeared as Nicole Stevens in several episodes. She also starred as a principal dancer in a Japanese music video for the pop artist Suzuki Masayuki. Before she went into film acting, Underwood starred in industrial films for NorthWest Airlines, Nu Skin, Siggraph, Denny's and Melaleuca. She has also done a number of commercials and advertisements.

Theater and film[edit]

Underwood appeared on Broadway as Ellen in Miss Saigon during the National Broadway Tour in 1999. Her performance was largely acclaimed by critics and viewers. She played Nancy in Oliver and was cast in the first English adaptation of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg as Genevieve Emery.

Underwood began her film acting career as the lead female actress as Kelly Powers in The R.M.. Later on, she also auditioned and was cast for a starring role in Mobsters and Mormons.

Music and voice[edit]

Aside from acting, Underwood also has a career in music, recording songs and providing backing vocals for various artists. She hosted the Senior Olympics, sponsored by Jon Huntsman Sr., in October of 2003, 2004 and 2005. She has recorded two duets, "In Whatever Time We Have" from the Broadway musical Children of Eden (1991) and "A Light in the Dark" from Next to Normal (2008).

She also appeared as a guest singer in Jolene Kanahele's CD His Love (Vol. 3). She worked as a pioneer voiceover artist for The Void from May 2015 till January 2016. Underwood has also done voiceover work for First National Bank and ESPN.

From May 2009 to March 2019, Underwood was the lead singer and front person of the party band The Groove Merchants, which has performed in international shows including the Grand Prix in Monte Carlo (2013), the Microsoft Convention at the Atlanta Phillips Arena, and the Opening Night Gala of the Kentucky Derby and celebrity-hosted parties in different cities of the world. After a ten-

year run as the Groove Merchants' lead vocalist, Underwood has continued to play as a solo artist for private parties and activities.

Corporate[edit]

Underwood has owned two entertainment production companies, PURE Productions INC (co-founded and runs with her husband since January 2013) and her former band’s official company, Groove Merchants Live Dance Band LLC (was co-owner from May 2009 to March 2019). Groove Merchants LLC is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and had been awarded as Best in State from the years 2013 to 2019 for Best Party/Cover Band and Best Specialty Act.

Personal life[edit]

Underwood married John Scott Pace Underwood on 7 July 2016. She met him on 24 July 2015 at a Target store, with his daughter at the time and John asked her out on a date. On 14 February 2016, John proposed to Britani at the exact spot where they first met.[1]

The couple resides in Salt Lake City in Utah along with their 5 children – four daughters and one son.
