The Aden Protectorate (Arabic: محمية عدن Maḥmiyyat 'Adan) was a British protectorate in South Arabia which evolved in the hinterland of the Port of Aden and in the Hadhramaut following the conquest of Aden by the Bombay Presidency of British India in 1837, and which continued until the 1960s. In 1932 Aden became a Chief Commissioner's Province and reported direct to the Government of India. On 1 April 1937 Aden was officially separated from the control of the Government of India and became a Crown Colony and was made responsible to the Colonial Office.

The Empire of India, whose suzerainty extends from Aden in the west to Tenasserim in the east, a span of 3000 miles, has for over 3000 years produced a succession of warrior peoples, the bulk of whom, descended from the Aryans.
