British India—Empire of Japan relations
British Raj Empire of Japan
  British India
  Japanese Empire
2nd Battalion The South Wales Borderers, along with a detachment of the 36th Sikhs, formed the bulk of the British troops sent to assist the Japanese in capturing Germany's naval base at Tsingtao (Qingdao) in China.

Japan appeared to support Indian nationalisms, tolerating visits by figures such as Rash Behari Bose. Imperial Great Britain also considered asking Japan to help defend British India. The July 1905 renegotiations allowed for Japanese support of British interests within British India and the British Raj support for Japanese progress into Korea.
