British India – Kingdom of Greece relations

Greece, or rather the regions that became Greece, were never part of a strategic plan of colonial takeover. In 1815, after the Napoleonic Wars, the Ionian Islands became the platform for British expansion in the eastern Mediterranean and a British protectorate was formed there in Cyprus.
