Anita Utsey Jenkins (born August 28, 1963) is an American novelist. She wrote the novels Broken Chains four book series, Our Humble Beginnings, Ali, Undercover Shipment and The Family. A secret organization develops with the cause of fighting discrimination in the south. Dignitaries decided to hire white politicians who are willing to disbar the Jim Crow laws. Seeking a way to fund their movement, the Negro leaders of Charleston and the surrounding areas, became connected with the Northern Mafia. Attempting to conceal the members and their plans, the newly formed Negro Southern Mafia used the innocence of Daisy Lee, a rising star with humble beginnings. Daisy’s gift was recognizable at an early age from her angelic voice along with the ancestral family’s talent. Daisy’s mother agreed to the marriage of her daughter to Brother Lee. Brother Lee was a born leader. At an early age, he witnessed the corruption of the Southern Mafia. Not able to change his womanizing habits once married, Brother’s family scrutinized his actions. Seeking a way of being removed from his father’s watchful eyes, Brother decides to take a job as an international negotiator, traveling and trading relics. Shortly after having Ali, her daughter, Daisy was forced to go to college and later returned to a world that rejected an educated Negro woman. Not wanting to reside with her parents, Daisy finds refuge by living on the streets and working in juke houses as a singer. Reconnecting with her childhood mentor Tyler, together they slowly became a force to be reckoned with in the south and later the world. Yet the Mafia believes that Daisy’s and Tyler’s success and stardom come with a price. The Mafia attempts to manipulate and control Daisy, Brother and later Daisy’s and Brother’s daughter Ali. The problem the Mafia encountered, they cannot be controlled. Brother, Daisy and Ali decided to destroy the Mafia and this came with a cost.
