Nora Aurrekoetxea[edit]
Nora Aurrekoetxea is a Bilbo artist currently located in Holland , who features in the exhibite. Aurrekoetxea notes that the Spanish language does not have the expression to ´fall in love'( tomber amoureeux) which implies the act of falling , and awakening the contridiction of violence . This 'falling' requires our protection , and puts the message of 'how can we protect ourselves for a pain invoked but not yet suffered?'. This specific piece of work showcases the divide between the visible and the invisible by using contrast between the fabrics ; concr4ete canvases , towels and reinforcing rods to create the image of opacity and transparency , as the two fabrics create friction , "a body that splits in two ", and that relies on each other to sustain itself .
Iman Issa[edit]
Iman Issa is a Cairo artist who insists implications rather than explanations . This 3D sculptures represents her series ¨Proxies , with a Life of their Own' . The sculptures are accompanied by small text panels , with identify the works as selfportraits , but alos as portraits of ther people, mainly literary people . The text panels show a quotation , a statement or paraphrases the writer or thinker have once thought .
Yael Davids[edit]
This performance artist interprets the body as an archive of shared histories of pain and ability , and is a tool to be used to llearn the confidence to ńot know `and to learn again . However , Davids notes , 'art institutions are more orientated to to care for the artefact , and not for the body '
