Budget Insurance is a trading name of BISL Limited, a UK-based insurance intermediary that is part of BGL Group.[1][2][3] The brand has provided home, car, van and life insurance for over 3 million customers across the UK for 25 years.[4][5][6][7][8][9] In 2004, Budget Insurance became the cheapest provider of home and motor cover in the UK.[10][11] Their car and van insurance policies have both received a 5-star rating from independent assessor defaqto[12][13], whilst their Life insurance policies received a 4-star rating.[14]
Budget Insurance takes its name from the original company established in 1992 by South African Billionaire Douw Steyn, which later became BGL Group.[15][16][17][18] Further insurance brands under the same name were established in South Africa in 1998[19] and in Australia in 2000.[20] Whilst these organisations are separate from BGL group, they are contained within the same parent company, BHL Holdings Limited.[21]
