Design[edit]

The brand mark is an eagle which represents both Mexico and the US. Historically both countries have strong ties to the eagle and its representation of freedom and strength. It also pays homage to the Unites States Air Force and the F-15 Eagle.[1]

Process[edit]

The process begins with Blue Weber agaves which come from both regions of Jalisco referred to the Lowlands and the Highlands. The Blue Weber agaves take 8-10 years to mature and are tested for peak ripeness and sugar concentration. The agaves are cooked in brick ovens for 32-36 hours. The water is sourced from a natural spring which comes from the inactive volcano near the city of Tequila, Jalisco. Agave juices are fermented in copper lined stainless steel tanks using an imported yeast. This open-air process takes three days. The Tequila is twice distilled using copper lined stainless steel stills. Through reverse osmosis the high alcohol level is brought down to 40%. Using a method called oxygenation, the tequila is passed through an oxygenation machine for 12-48 hours to achieve a smooth and light mouth feel. The Tequila then goes through a Chill Treatment System, which brings it down to -2 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 hours. It is then brought back to normal temperature to remove any “cloudiness”. Their final process is to remove most of the Aldehydes. The entire process is overseen by Master Distiller Augustín Sanchez.[1]

Awards[edit]

Buendia Tequila received medals at both the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the 2020 SIP (Spirit International Prestige) Awards in Southern California. They were also nominated for the "Brand of Promise" award by Tequila Aficionado.[1]
