Floorball Bundesliga or 1.FBL is the highest league in the league system of German floorball and comprises the top 12 German floorball teams. The league was founded in 1995 by the Floorball Deutschland (FD). The season ends with a play-off and a final. The champion of the league is eligible to compete at the EuroFloorball Cup.[1]
Format[edit]
The regular season is played in a round robin format with each team playing 22 games. The total number of regular season games is 132. The eight teams that finish the regular season at the top of the standings qualify for the playoffs in the spring.
Since 2022, after the main round (first and second round), the top eight teams have played in the playoffs and the bottom four in the playdowns. The quarter-finals will be played in best-of-three format and from the semi-finals in best-of-five format. Only the 3rd place match is a single decider. The four participants in the playdowns play to stay up. The loser is relegated and the final winner plays in a relegation match against relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga.
