Burhan Bashir Bhat
Burhan Bashir Bhat was killed by unidentified gunmen while he was sitting on his father's lap when two armed men broke into their home in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore and opened fire.[1] Burhan received three bullets and was treated at SKIMS for multiple injuries.[2] No one has taken responsibility for his killing. Even in the past few months before Burhan, there have been many mysterious killings.
Even some say Kashmir is like Syria, Peshawar like Baghdad, and humanity is now dead. Burhan Bashir Bhat, a three-year-old child, in his death, has become a synonym for Aylan Kurdi — the three-year-old Syrian boy of Kurdish ethnicity whose images brought about an onslaught of global outrage after he drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, as part of the great Syrian refugee crisis.[3] To stop such acts in the future, Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a shutdown on September 20, 2015, against the horrific killing in Kashmir valley.[4] Normal life was affected in Kashmir Valley following a strike called by the hardline Hurriyat Conference to protest the killing of a three-year-old boy by unidentified gunmen in Sopore.[5]
