Burn X Flash (formerly as Burn Gaming) is an esports team based in Cambodia. It is under the collaboration of Burn Gaming and Team Flash.[1]
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
They made their debut at M1 World Championship - Cambodia Qualifier in 2019 as Burn Gaming and secured third place after winning 2โ0 over Dude. A year later, they participated in the Metfone All-Stars Arena, finishing as champion after beating Impunity KH 3โ0 in the final. In the Smart Kingdom of Legends: Pro, they ended their journey in the semifinals after losing See You Soon 1โ2. Burn also competed in the MPL Cambodia Season 1. In the regular season, they finished 4th place after winning 4 and losing 3. In the playoffs, they competed in the upper bracket quarterfinals where they won 2โ1 against Fennec Esports but lost 0โ2 to Diversity Gaming Quantum in the upper bracket semifinals. They faced Impunity KH in the lower bracket semifinals, losing 2โ1, ensuring their 4th place in the competition.[2][3]
On February 5, 2022, Burn Gaming agreed to cooperate with one of the most successful esports teams in Southeast Asia, Team Flash, becoming Burn X Flash. [4]
They participated in the T.Y Media E Champion Season 1 under a new name, winning the competition by winning 2โ0 against Dead or Alive in the upper bracket quarterfinals, 2โ1 against See You Soon and Impunity KH in the upper bracket semifinals and final respectively, before winning 3โ2 against See You Soon again in the grand final.[5]
They made their international debut at the Razer Invitational - SEA 2021, finishing 3rd in the group stage with 2 wins, a draw and a loss, earning 7 points.[6]
They took part in the MPL Cambodia Spring 2022. In the regular season, they made an impressive unbeaten run by winning 4, drawing 3, and finished in second place behind Impunity KH. In the playoffs, they won 3โ0 against Divinity Saga in the quarterfinals, before losing 0โ3 to See You Soon in the semifinals and 2โ3 to Team Max in the third place match.[7]
Burn X Flash made their first imported coach, Zico, from the Philippines in June 2022, before importing another two Philippines players, Hesa and MP the King. They won the WOWNOW & Prince Mall League by winning 3โ2 against WIS International, See You Soon, and Impunity KH in the playoffs. They also participated in the IESF World Esports Championships 2022 - Cambodian Qualifiers, finishing second after losing to See You Soon.[8]
In the MPL Cambodia Autumn 2022, Burn X Flash finished third in the regular season with 3 wins, 4 draws and no losses. In the playoffs, they won 3โ1 against Team Max, See You Soon, and Logic Esports in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and grand final respectively. After winning the event, they qualified for the M4 Championship which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia.[9]
In M4 Championship, Burn x Flash were placed in Group A alongside Blacklist International, Falcon Esports and Incendio Supremacy and finished bottom, qualifying for the lower bracket Round 1 where they met The Valley and lost 0โ2.[10]
Burn X Flash won the Road To SEA Games 32nd National Esports Qualifiers - Men and qualified for the 2023 SEA Games. At the MPL Cambodia Spring 2023, they finished 3rd with 3-4-0 records, similar to their MPL-KH Autumn 2022 records in the regular season. They won 3โ1 against Impunity KH in the upper bracket quarterfinals but lost to See You Soon 0โ3 in the semifinals, having to play in the lower bracket semifinals where they won 3โ1 against PRO Esports and avenged See You Soon by winning 3โ2 in the lower bracket final, challenging CFU Gaming in the grand final. Once again, Burn x Flash dominated the final by winning 4โ1 in the Best of 7 matches, crowned champion of the MPL Cambodia Spring 2023, becoming the first team to win two MPL-KH series and book their place at the MSC 2023.[11]
In the MSC 2023, Burn X Flash lost 0โ2 to ONIC Esports but qualified for the quarterfinals after winning 2โ0 against Outplay, becoming the first Cambodian team to qualify to the knockout stage in any competition. In the quarterfinals, they surprised everyone by winning 3โ0 against RSG Singapore but lost 1โ3 to Blacklist International in the semifinals and 2โ3 to ECHO in the third place match, earning 4th place. This was the best performance of the Cambodian team in any international competition.[12]
