Chandayan (Hindi: चाँदायन, lit. 'The Story of Chanda') is an Awadhi epic romance or premākhyān written by Sufi Maulana Da'ud in 1379 CE. The work is inspired by folk ballad of Lorik sung in Awadh and neighbouring regions. It is often considered as the first major work of Hindi literature.[1]
