Background and recording[edit]

On April 8, 2022 Camila released her third studio album Familia to critical acclaim. Familia was met with positive reviews upon release, getting a normalized score of 76 out of a 100 at Metacritic. The album received "generally favorable reviews" from music critics. On 28 December 2023, the pop star shared a photo on her Instagram being in a recording both recording vocals. With the caption "mostly the year of this, see you next year bitches". And in March of 2024, she archived all previous posts, fueling the internet with speculation for new music. On March 25th, she revealed the lead single of the album, titled I Luv It (Camila Cabello and Playboi Carti song) featuring American rapper Playboi Carti will drop on 27 March. A few weeks before that, she teased the single via a video. Genius confirmed the title to be C,XOXO by posting the name and what tracks can be on the album.[1]

Singles[edit]

On March 6 2024, via a video on her Instagram, she teased a song called "I Luv It".[2] On the 25th of march, she officially announced the single along with its cover art and a release date of March 27. the single was released to mixed revies, some critics deemed Cabello's transition to the sub-genres of pop as a "failed expirement"[3] In a positive review however, Robin Murray of Clash complimented the song's "colossal sense of acceleration" and "hyper-colorful production".[4]
