C. Victor Raiser II (1939 – July 1992) was an American lawyer, businessman, and political operative. Raiser was the national finance co-chair of Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign for the midwest.[1][2]

Raiser graduated from Princeton University in 1962, and from the University of Virginia in 1965. He then served as a lawyer at the Washington D.C. law firm Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue.[1]

Business career[edit]

As a businessman, Raiser served as chairman of the American Mobile Satellite Corporation, and as vice chair of the Mobile Telecommunication Technologies Corporation.[1]

Politics[edit]

Raiser served as National Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee.[3][2]

From 1991 to 1992, Raiser served as finance co-chair of Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign for the midwest.[1]

Death[edit]

Raiser was a passenger on board a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver floatplane operated as a fishing charter by Bristol Bay Lodge when it crashed near Dillingham, Alaska on July 30, 1992.[4] The aircraft's pilot observed that a mountain pass was obscured by low ceiling and attempted to reverse course, but failed to maintain speed, stalled, and crashed. The pilot survived; five passengers including Raiser and his son died in the crash and a sixth passenger died the following day.[5][2]
