Meghalaya has recorded 12 COVID-19 positive cases from 13 April to 21 April, all linked to the family of the 69-year-old doctor who died on April 15 within 48 hours of infection on 15 April. All are from the house of the first patient family member and helper of deceased Doctor.[3]
The twelfth infected patient is one of the family friends of the first positive case. Eight of the positive cases are family members of the first COVID19 patient, and two are domestic helpers.
As by 22 April 2020, 38 samples were tested and 714 individuals found negative. There were 11 positive cases in Meghalaya out of which 10 was active whereas 113 test reports were pending by 22 April.
Bethany Hospital,Shillong where Meghalaya's first COVID-19 positive case was detected, has been temporarily shut down to contain the further spread of the virus by shifting all the staff of the hospital to other locations.
The first positive patient, 69-year-old Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, who was the director of Bethany Hospital, passed away on April 15, 2:45 AM due to complications after infection.

ZONES[edit]
To tackle the outbreak of coronavirus in an effective and structured manner, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has classified the country's districts in three different zones; Red, Orange and Green, based on the severity of outbreak in those areas.[11]
The following is the list of districts of Bihar classified in their respective zones. There is no Red Zone ( Hotspot ) district in Meghalaya.

TOURIST ADVISORY
On 17th March 2020 the Government of Meghalaya issued an advisory to tourists visiting Meghalaya where restrictions were issued to prevent any possible transmission or outbreak of Covid-19[12] Government already shut downed tourist spots on 18th of March 2020[13]
PUBLIC ADVISORY
It was released a notification by Government of state on 23rd March and those who are stranded outside Meghalaya[14]
A general advisory was released by government regarding NOVEL CORONA VIRUS Outbreak (COVID-19) which covered all infographics of what to do and not do and prevent spread of COVID-19 in Meghalaya[15]
