The CSX Altenheim Subdivision is a freight line running from North Lawndale, Chicago to Forest Park, Illinois. In North Lawndale, Chicago, it has a connection with the end of the CSX Blue Island Subdivision.

History

The route extended west to Forest Park, Illinois, providing access for former Soo Line (now Canadian National) and Chicago Great Western Railroad (later Chicago & North Western Railroad, now abandoned). The line was originally affiliated with the Soo Line Railroad predecessor Wisconsin Central Railroad (1954-1961), acquired in 1889 by Chicago & Northern Pacific Railroad, in 1897 by Chicago Terminal Transfer Railroad, and in 1910 by Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal Railroad. At Rockwell Street (MP 29.8), there is a former crossing and junction with the Pennsylvania Railroad Panhandle line, abandoned in 1986, and Chicago & North Western Rockwell Subdivision. At Forest Park, there is a connection with CN's former Soo Line/Wisconsin Central line. Also until the 1970s, a junction existed where the Chicago Great Western line continued further west. Also until 1957, there was a crossing with Chicago Aurora & Elgin Railroad.
