Cade Fox Kurland (born February 17, 2004) is an American college baseball second baseman for the Florida Gators.

Early life

Kurland attended Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida.[1] Unusually, Kurland announced his commitment to Florida on June 22, 2019, when he was only in 8th grade.[2] He was the all-time leader for hits, runs, RBIs, stolen bases, and home runs at the school.[3] As a junior, slashed .468/.606/.957 and led the state of Florida in home runs for a high school student.[4]

Kurland was named a 2022 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-American.[5] He was also named the Class 3A player of the year during his junior season.[6] After the season, he graduated early to be able to join Florida in 2023.[3]

College career

Kurland did not appear on opening day for Florida, but went on to appear in 68 of the remaining 70 games that season. Kurland slashed .297/.404/.555 as the Gators advanced all the way to the 2023 College World Series. He drove in the game-winning run in the 9th inning during the semifinal against TCU to send Florida to the final.[7] The Gators eventually lost to LSU.[8]

Kurland appeared in 62 of 66 games for Florida in 2024 despite fracturing his hand in the third series of the season against Columbia.[9][10] His injury resulted in a slight downturn in production, only slashing .245/.346/.457. He scored 3 crucial runs in an extra-innings 11–10 win over Clemson at the Clemson Super Regional to send Florida to the 2024 College World Series.[11] There, Florida eventually fell to Texas A&M in the semifinal.[12]

Kurland once again started at second base for Florida in 2025. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury only 14 games into the season.[13]
