Cafe de Calivo is a Filipino cafe and restaurant operated by Aklan-based Trikee Corporation. It was the first venture into the food business by Trikee Corporation in 2007 in Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines.
History[edit]
The idea of starting a coffee shop with a touch of Aklanon heritage came to Trikee Corporation founder Jess Fernandez even before the corporation was formed. When Trikee Corporation was formed in 2005, Cafe de Calivo was amongst the business brands he listed under it. It is named after the ancient name of the town. In 2017, the right opportunity to launch the brand came when the municipal government of Kalibo, in celebration of Kalibo's foundation anniversary launched Kalye Kulinarya sa Kalibo (KKK), a food night strip project of the Kalibo Tourism & Cultural Affairs Office. In this small kiosk, its humble beginnings, Cafe de Calivo introduced the pairing of coffee with local Aklanon delicacies named after the 19 Martyrs of Aklan with vintage town photos as backdrop. [2]. It became a blockbuster hit.
In December 2018, the cafe moved to a bigger place at the Angelo Fernandez Business Center. Its offerings were also expanded to include Aklanon and Filipino rice meals. From a small kiosk, it has now been transformed into a full blown cafe restaurant. It became the first cafe restaurant in Western Visayas to have a touch screen automated order system powered by Trikee Corporations's technology solutions brand Trikee Solutions.
Cafe de Calivo was featured in the Business Mirror, GMA News and by Lost Juan. It has also been frequented by celebrities.
