Cakemail is a company providing a web-based email marketing software. It is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and was founded in 2007 by Steve Smith and Francois Lane.[2] Aside from developing email marketing software, the company also creates automated processes that identify, target and delete spammers from their databases while notifying other core data providers.

History[edit]

In 2007, the company offered a white-label email marketing product exclusively to resellers, such as marketing agencies and telecommunication providers.[3][4][5]

In 2008, the grassroots movement "An Obama Minute" led by Scott Cohen selected Cakemail as their email marketing application, calling on the team to create a semi-custom solution.[6][7]

In 2010, it ranked 24th in Canada's 2010 PROFIT 50.[8]

In 2012, Cakemail started offering its services to and web hosting services through integration with cPanel and Parallels Automation.[9]

In May 2012, Cakemail was interviewed by the CTV Television Network for insight as to how Canada's anti-spam legislation, bill C-28, affects companies outside of Canada.[10]
