La Canadienne Shoes was founded in Montreal, Quebec in 1987, where the headquarters remain today. The company specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality footwear for women, manufacturing in their historic Montreal production facility.[1] The company operates 2 stores in the Downtown & Outremont neighborhoods of Montreal, Quebec.[2]

City Dry™ Technology[edit]

For over 30 years, the brand has been engineering footwear with a no-compromise approach that marries design, function and ethics. They use exclusive waterproof leather and suede, handmade in Italy and waterproof treated through to craft all their Montreal-made footwear. To brave the Canadian elements their City Dry footwear is lined with breathable microfiber or insulated with genuine shearling.[3]

Wholesale[edit]

In addition to their two Montreal stores and the website, La Canadienne footwear can be found across North America at multiple luxury department stores including Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew and Neiman Marcus.[4]

Other products[edit]

In addition to their Canadian-made footwear, La Canadienne offers a wide range of Italian made footwear, outerwear and accessories.[5]

Acquisition by Champlain Financière[edit]

In July 2019 it was announced that an investor group led by Champlain Financial Corporation, including Fondaction and Investissement Québec, had acquired La Canadienne.[6] Champlain Financial Corporation, a private equity firm, is focused on Canadian small and mid-market acquisitions and its portfolio includes outerwear brand Kanuk.
