Caleal Walker (born June 6, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Dallas Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA). He played one season for Colby Community College.

High school career[edit]

Walker attended Omaha South High School and played for Omaha Celtics and Omaha Thunder in the AAU circuit.[1] As a junior, he scored 13 points in a 61-31 victory over Lincoln Northeast High School in a Class A semifinal game.[2] Walker scored 22 points in a 67-52 victory against Papillion-La Vista High School in a Class A state tournament semifinal as a senior.[3] In his senior season, he won the state championship with Omaha South and scored 20 points in the title game against Fremont High School.[4] He was named state tournament MVP.[1] He averaged 11.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game as a senior, but his figures were higher during the run to the state title. He focused on defense and getting steals and said, "My offense comes from defense and, to me, I think I'm the best defensive player in the state."[5] Walker was named to the All-Nebraska team by the Omaha World-Herald.[6] In June, Walker led all scorers with 39 points in the Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame Game, leading the West team to a 114-93 victory.[7]

College career[edit]

After high school, Walker attended Colby Community College. In his freshman season, he averaged 11.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, shooting 41.7 percent from the field.[8] Walker had his first 20-point game on November 26, 2016, in a 102–92 loss to Dodge City Community College.[9] His best scoring effort was a 21-point, three-rebound game in a 102–92 loss to Hutchinson Community College on February 4, 2017.[10] He did not play for the team in the 2017-18 season, implying he dropped out before that season began.[6]

Professional career[edit]

Walker joined the Dallas Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA) in 2018.[11] In the team's second game, a 96–92 loss to the New York Ballers on June 26, Walker had 39 points and 17 rebounds.[12] In the third game against Houston on June 28, Walker led Houston with 26 points in a 105-102 loss.[13] On July 19, Walker had 29 points, eight rebounds, five steals and five assists in a 109–100 victory over the Chicago Ballers.[14] Despite a slow start, Walker contributed 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 assist in a 115–81 win against the Philadelphia Ballers on July 24.[15] He was later named to the West roster for the JBA All-Star Game.[16]
