California Association of Bicycling Organizations
The California Association of Bicycling Organizations, or CABO (pronounced with a long A), was formed in 1972 as a federation of California bicycling clubs organized to "protect bicyclists' interests statewide and to encourage, maintain, and improve bicycling conditions.".[1]
History[edit]
CABO began in 1972 at Asilomar on the Monterey Peninsula of California. They were involved in the initial writing of Chapter 1000, a book detailing the “Planning and Design Criteria for Bicycles in California”.[2]
According to their website, CABO continues to "continues to protect bicycling organizations against local authorities to prohibit bicyclists use of the road." They do this through organized rides for both their members and the general public.
