Lightbits is a software written by Avigdor Willenz, Eran Kirzner, Kam Eshghi, Muli Ben-Yehuda, and Sagi Grimberg, based in San Jose, California.[1][2][3][4]
History[edit]
Lightbits Labs was founded in 2016 by Avigdor Willenz, Eran Kirzner, Kam Eshghi, Muli Ben-Yehuda, and Sagi Grimberg when they developed a platform that uses NVMe/TCP standard and can improve operations between NVMe and controller devices.[5][6][7]
In March 2019, Lightbits Labs received $50 million investment from Dell EMC, Cisco, Micron Technology and others.[7][8] Previously, they received a funding of $10 million in 2016.[8] In November 2019, NVM Express approved the NVMe/TCP developed by Lightbits Labs in collaboration with Cisco, Dell EMC, Intel, Meta, and Micron Technology.[7] In the same year, they introduced storage software that can run NVMe over TCP.[9]
In September 2020, Intel invested an undisclosed amount in Lightbits Labs.[3][10] They also formed a partnership with Intel to develop disaggregated storage platform for data centers.[3][4][11]
In June 2022, Lightbits received $42 million in a funding round which included an investment from JP Morgan Chase..[7]
In October 2022, Lenovo Group invested an undisclosed amount in Lightbits Labs.[12]
