Justin James Callahan (born September 15, 1996) better known by his producer name Caliveli, is an American record producer best known for his work with Kanye West. He is widely credited for "bringing back the old Kanye", with Kanye & Caliveli's studio session going viral in January, 2019. Caliveli has worked with Bone Thugs n Harmony, Talib Kweli, Desiigner, Jay Critch, Dej Loaf, Kap G, DJ Paul (Three Six Mafia), Pras (Fugees), The Oultawz, Andy Mineo, Ralfy The Plug, Trucarr, Almighty Suspect, Spencer X, Lofe, Breckie Hill, Rachel Brockman, Oschino Vasquez (State Property) GLC, A-Trak, Tony Williams, Columbus Short, Nate Parker, Stephanie Santiago, Steph Lecor, Ca$his, Rappin 4-tay, Jessica Dykstra, Torrei Hart, Steve Lobel, Sjoerd "Sjoko" Koppert, Tori V, NHale, Lil Nate Dogg, Jooba Loc, Mr. Criminal, Boy Boy West Coast, HaHa Davis, Mackenzie Sol, Malaynah, Ralfy The Plug, Israel Houghton, Chris King, GoGettaKB, Trucarr, & Henry AZ. Damizza is also a billboard charting multiplatinum producer who had managed Mariah Carey.
Career[edit]
Caliveli's career began in July 2016 when he met Damizza at Roselane Studios in Carpenteria, California. Caliveli had become the studios intern which ultimately led him to being Damizza's assistant. In June 2018 he met Dame Dash at Dash's Culture Vultures Masterclass at his Studio (DDS33) in Burbank. Caliveli told Dash that he had been working for Damizza, which led Dash and Damizza to reunite a month later. Caliveli began to program and host Dame Dash Television, aka DDTV, which is an online television station of Dash's original content, being recognized in RESPECT MAGAZINE. Caliveli told Dash he's also a producer, which led him to making beats in Dash's music studio. In January 2019, Caliveli became internationally known when he went viral with Kanye West. Kanye freestyled over Calivel's beats, something Kanye hadn't done since early in his career. The freestyle videos took over every major music outlet and social media, with 15 million total cumulative views. The freestyles were labeled by fans as the "Yandhi Freestyles". Dame Dash credited Caliveli for "bringing bring the back Kanye" and that his beats sound like "old Kanye beats". He was then credited by HipHopDX for being the producer that "brought out the old Kanye".
