CanYa

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

CanYa Pty Ltd is an Australian Proprietary Company first registered in 2016.[1] The company is an Australian based start-up which has a geo-located online marketplace and networking application (or app) called CanYa for iOS and Android[2][3][4]. The CanYa app uses a mobile device’s geo-location, a feature of all smart phones, and allows users to locate specific providers who are geographically nearby[5][6].

History[edit]

The company was founded by John- Paul Thorbjornsen, the Chief Executive Officer[7][8]. The app was launched in Darwin, Australia in December 2016 and then in Adelaide, Australia on 20 January 2017[7]. It has less than 10 employees, and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.[9]

In January 2017, CanYa was featured in the NT News as an app designed to connect locals to services.[10] In April 2017, CanYa was featured in the Huffington Post as one of the latest apps ‘designed to make your life easier’.[11]

How it works[edit]

Users can browse for service provider profiles listed in their local area by searching for key words or service categories. The app also allows ranking of providers by price, availability or reviews. The user can request quotes from a selected provider, or broadcast a job request to all providers in a given service category.[12] Once a quote request is received, the user can then accept the quote.[12] If a job is completed payment occurs through the app (online payment)[12]. Registration, account creation, and quote requests are free for all users and providers.[13][11] CanYa represents the sharing economy era with the provision of a peer-to-peer transactions[14].

Fees[edit]

The company does not employ any of the providers; it is a broker and receives a percentage of the revenue with every completed transaction.[13]

Number of users[edit]

As of May 2017, the app has over 4000 users.[15]

Features[edit]

CanYa allows a user to request a quote from the provider chosen, or broadcast the request to all local providers.[11] CanYa has inbuilt calling and chat technology and a map view showing available local providers. CanYa ranks its providers based upon their accumulated points earned for verifications, reviews received from customers, and total amount of transactions successfully completed through the app[16] which also gives the service provider an online reputation.

Reward system[edit]

CanYa has a built in two tiered referral reward system[17][18]. All users receive a unique referral code which is built into any profiles they share with others.[19] If they refer a new user using their unique referral code, CanYa pays them ~ 10% of the profits made on every transaction that the new user makes. If the new user then refers a third party, then CanYa pays the first user ~15% and the second user ~10% of all profits made on every transaction the third party makes.[17]

Technologies[edit]

Various technologies have been integrated into CanYa such as Upshot Data analytics and in-app engagement, Layer in-app messaging, Sinch VOIP and SMS verification and Deep Linking with Branch Metrics.[7]
