The Canadian Nationalist Party (French: Parti Nationaliste Canadien, CNP) is a right-wing political party operating in the federal jurisdiction of Canada. The party advocates limited immigration and ethnically-based national identity.
The party is currently unregistered nationalist and right-wing political party in Canada. It was founded in June 2017 by Travis Patron. The party represents a revival of Canada's national identity, and respects three principles of the proclaimed Sir John A. Macdonald Mandate, including National, Demographic, and Monarchical Policies. The Canadian Nationalist Party is on track to fulfilling the Elections Canada criteria in order to become a federally registered political party.[1].
History
On September 14, 2017, the Canadian Nationalist Party held a gathering on the University of Toronto campus. The university blocked permission for the group to operate due to negative publicity.[2] The university president Meric Gertler stated "bigotry, hate and violence have no place on campus".[2] Travis Patron responded stating, "We are not a white supremacist, white nationalist, far-right extremist movement".[2] The gathering was rescheduled to November 26, 2017 on Facebook.
Principles and policies
The Canadian Nationalist Party defines 21 policies, ranging from both left-wing and right-wing positions, that aim to elevate the prosperity of Canada and its political, economic and cultural sovereignty.[3] The 21 point program highlights what the party plans for once elected and is also used to provide an understanding of what differentiates the Canadian Nationalist Party to other Canadian federal political parties.
