Candi Castleberry-Singleton (born 1966)[1] is the founder of Dignity & Respect Inc. a company that aids businesses in creating workplaces for people of different diversities and backgrounds. Additionally, Singleton is currently Vice President of Global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion at Amazon and former vice president of Intersectionality, Culture, and Diversity (ICD) at Twitter.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

in 2003, Singleton graduated with her bachelor's degree in legal studies from UC Berkeley Following this, Singleton continued her studied and completed the Stanford Univeristy Executive Human Resources program in 2004, and She went on to gain her MBA from Pepperdine University in Business Administration in 2006.[3][1]

Career[edit]

Singleton is the writer of "The Bolt-On to Built-In Model" featured in her chapter of Crossing the Divide: Inter group Leadership in a World of Difference (Harvard Business School Press).[2][4]

In 2003, After gaining her bachelor’s degree in legal studies Singleton, joined Xerox Corporation where she led teams in talent development and operations.[3] Following this, in 2006, singleton later gained her M.B.A from Pepperdine University and gain a position at Sun Microsystems where she led the Global Inclusion centre of Expertise.[3]

After her time at Sun Microsystems, Singleton became vice president of global inclusion and diversity at Motorola where she ran diversity and inclusion initiatives.[2][5][6]

In 2008, Singleton worked as Chief inclusion and diversity officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she started the centre for inclusion in Health Care in 2008, which focuses on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at UPMC via providing providing culturally competent care.[1][7][3]

Additionally, in 2008 Singleton founded the Dignity and Respect Campaign, an initiative to inspire peoples behaviour and respect globally, the corporation provide tools to aid in companies and people alike to to get involved in creating a diverse and respectful working environment.[2][8][9]

Additionally, Singleton is also an international keynote speaker giving talks and lectures in locations such as Boston, Budapest and Beijing, and has served as a professor at Carnegie Mellon University.[2]

In 2017, Singleton joined Twitter as Vice President of Inclusion and Diversity at Twitter as the company was aiming to improve their diversity company wide, and after former VP Jeffrey Siminoff departed from the company.[10][11][12][13]

In September 2021, Amazon announced singleton as vice president of global diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).[14]

Recognition[edit]

In 2013 Singleton received the Health and Human Services Award from the Young Women's Christian Association at the 31st Annual Tribute to Women Leadership Awards for her work in Diversity and inclusion.[15]

In December 2019, Singleton was named as a Distinguished Alum by Pepperdine University for her distinguished decades-long career in business and academia.[14]

Personal life[edit]

She lives in Pittsburgh with her husband Alex Singleton.[16]
