Canopy Simulations Limited is a British simulation and vehicle modelling supplier based in the South East England. The founders of Canopy Simulations have been developing professional motorsport simulations for Formula 1 teams since 2006.[1] Their expertise in designing simulations for the motorsport industry leads them to transfer this knowledge to marine, aerospace and other industries.[2]
Canopy Simulations supplies software globally to Formula 1 and Formula E teams. The software calculates how quickly a vehicle can go around a course/circuit[3] as well helping Formula E teams to manage their battery energy and temperature levels through a race[4] to prevent teams running into issues during the race.[5] This is a novel approach to exploiting the performance of electric vehicles where the performance is governed by battery management systems.
Outside of motorsport they have provided optimisation software to America's Cup[1] through the use of collocation methods. The company also produces real-time driver-in-the-loop vehicle models.
