Premise[edit]

A team of documentary filmmakers embarks on a project to capture the lives of residents during the war in Brovary, a city in the Kyiv region of Ukraine. Their footage takes an unexpected turn when they stumble upon a genuine hero possessing extraordinary strength. This hero goes by the name of Captain Brovary and, despite his narcissistic tendencies, he enjoys widespread adoration among the local populace.

However, a mysterious rival for good deeds emerges on the scene, known as Black Mstyun, and ominous rumors begin to circulate about this enigmatic newcomer. Some stories paint Black Mstyun as an austere and fearsome figure. As Captain Brovary engages in quests and confrontations across various locations in the city, he slowly comes to realize that his heroic actions may no longer be relevant. To make matters more perplexing, he discovers that his newfound rival is, in fact, an ordinary young man.

Haunted by the idea that he has been "defeated" by a young upstart, Captain Brovary sinks into a deep depression. At his lowest point, he ascends to the rooftop of a towering building with the intention of ending his own life. However, fate takes a surprising turn as he finds himself saving a young girl from a dire situation. This unexpected act of heroism leads Captain Brovary to reassess his role in the lives of those around him, ultimately granting him a fresh perspective on his own purpose and the true meaning of his service to the community.
