The Cardinals–Seahawks rivalry is a rivalry between the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. The teams both play in the NFC West. While the teams first met in 1976, the rivalry did not develop until 2002, when the Seahawks were placed with the Cardinals in the NFC West, allowing for two annual meetings between the teams.[1] The Seahawks lead the series 22–21–1.
The rivalry is interesting because of the recent success both teams have had in away games, as the Cardinals have not beaten the Seahawks at home since 2012, and the Seahawks have only beaten the Cardinals twice in Seattle since 2013. This is remarkable as CenturyLink Field is famous for giving the Seahawks a notable home-field advantage.

Prior to 2002, the Cardinals led the all-time series 5–1, but since they became NFC West division rivals in 2002, the Seahawks have had a better record of 20–15–1. The Cardinals' rivalry with the Seahawks dates back to the first game in Seahawks' history—the 1976 season-opener. Before moving into the same division, Arizona won the first five games in the series through 1995—twice as the St. Louis Cardinals, twice as the Phoenix Cardinals, and once as the Arizona Cardinals. Seattle is 19-14-1 against Arizona since joining the division in 2002. The two teams have shared many epic battles over the years—especially from 2014–present.
The rivalry between the teams gained steam in 2013. The Arizona Cardinals suffered an embarrassing, lopsided 58–0 beating in 2012, the Cardinals sought to avenge the embarrassing loss in what would prove to be an upswing year for the franchise. From 2014-2016, both the Cardinals and Seahawks made the postseason, they finished as the top two teams in the NFC West Division, adding some extra punch to their two annual matchups. In the 2017 matchup, Seattle won 22-16 but suffered injuries to star cornerback Richard Sherman and several other players. Seattle won 20–17, but Earl Thomas suffered a broken leg. Neither Sherman nor Thomas would ever play for the Seahawks again.[2]
