Caring Senior Service is a network of franchises specializing in non-medical in-home care for seniors. The company supports aging in place. Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Caring Senior Service has 50+ independently owned and operated offices in the United States. The franchise is one of the only business to offer a deferral and rebate program for new franchisees.[1]

History[edit]

Jeff Salter founded Caring Senior Service in 1991. Salter worked in the home health industry and saw the need for a company to assist seniors with non-medical care, like transportation, bathing, and errand running. Salter opened the first Caring Senior Service location in Odessa, Texas.[2] By his second year, Salter had almost 100 clients. He then expanded the company to San Antonio, McAllen, and Corpus Christi.[3] By 1998, Salter opened the 5th office.[2]

In 2001, Salter established a franchising program to allow for expansion into other areas of the United States to help more seniors receive in-home care. The company continued to add franchises until 2009, when Salter stopped expansion efforts in order to focus on establishing strong training programs. He returned to franchising the next year.[2]

The company established GreatCare, a program of providing care based on client needs. This method involves asking a series of questions to clients to determine their needs. Caring Senior Service staff relies on active listening. Additionally, Caring Senior Service implemented all-expense paid quarterly training and ongoing education to all franchisees.[2]

From 2009 to 2013, the company's conversion percentage rose 10%, and offices who participate in the free training saw 35% increase in revenue.[2] Caring Senior Service was rated Top 100 Franchises for less than $100,000 by Entrepreneur[4] The company has implemented technology to help serve their clients. They provide tablets to clients that can send updates to family members and healthcare professionals, monitor client status, and aid scheduling.[5]

Today, the company has 54 locations.[6] Caring Senior Service is a franchising member of the International Franchise Association.[7]

Rebate program[edit]

The company offers a unique rebate program for new franchisees. The initial fee of $35,000 to open a new location can be deferred for 12 months. During this time, $7,500 can be deducted from the fee when the office begins helping clients. In addition to this rebate, franchisees can earn a second rebate based on performance within the first 12 months.[1]
