Ruggero Freddi is an Italian mathematics lecturer and former gay pornographic film actor known professionally as Carlo Masi.

Early life and education

At the age of 14, he began to work out at a local gym, practicing bodybuilding assiduously.[1][2]

In 2002, when he was about to complete his first cycle of university studies at Sapienza University of Rome, he moved to Canada, and subsequently to New York.[3][2]

Career

In 2003, Masi completed a Master of Science in computer engineering[4][5][6] at Sapienza University of Rome and worked in an artificial intelligence laboratory.[7][8]

Pornography

In 2004, after being contacted by the Colt Studio Group (CSG) recruiter, he made his debut in the gay pornography industry participating in his first porn movie, Big N 'Plenty.[2] After the debut, he signed a model exclusive contract CSG. He has always promoted safe sex, fraternizing with the Italian LGBT community.[9][2]

In 2006, he was selected as the cover for COLT 40,[10] a book published to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the production company.[11][12]

In 2007, Masi and his future husband, Adam Champ[12] (Gustavo Leguizamon [Wikidata]), where selected as the cover for Damron 2007 Men's Travel Guide.[13][12][14]

In 2008, CSG and Calaexotic released a dildo reproduction of Masi's penis.[15] In the same year, he was named as first and only Colt Man Emeritus and his contract was extended to life time.[16]

In 2008, Masi and Champ, where selected as the cover for Adam Gay Film & Video Directory Magazine.[17]

During his porn career, he was guest in national Italian TV shows like Chiambretti Night [it], L'Infedele and Sugo [it].[18][19][20] Moreover, he has also been the protagonist of several tours across America, Mexico and Europe[21][22][23] to promote CSG brand.

In 2009, he retired from the pornographic industry and entered into the theatre industry.[8][24]

In 2010, he was officially announced as a permanent member of the cast of Saturday Night Live Italia but he never appeared on the show.[25][26]

In 2011, he was included into the anthological book PORN -> From Andy Warhol To X-Tube[27][28] and into the anthological book Gay Porn Heroes: 100 Most Famous Porn Stars.[29][17]

in 2013, he was interviewed in the documentary “HUSTLABALL BERLIN”— A Documentary That Bares All.[30]

Theatre

In 2009, he made his theatre debut with Senzaparole, a reinterpretation of Samuel Beckett's Act Without Words I,[33][34] directed by Andrea Adriatico [it] and staged in Bologna with the company Teatri di vita [it][35] and later in Rome at Teatro India [it].[36][37]

Academia

After the theatrical experience, he decided to return to university, Sapienza University of Rome, for second time, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, with a score of 110/110 cum laude and then a Master of Science degree in mathematics at Sapienza University of Rome, with a score of 110/110 cum laude.[38][6][2] In 2020, he completed a Ph.D. in Mathematical Models for Engineering, Electromagnetism and Nanosciences at Sapienza University of Rome focusing on the application of Morse theory to a Dirichlet problem traced back to Poisson equations.[38][39] His doctoral advisors were Angela Pistoia and Massimo Grossi [Wikidata].[40][2]

During his doctoral years, he worked as professor of Analysis 1[41] and Analysis 2[6] at the Faculty of Engineering at the Sapienza University of Rome.[42]

Media attention

In 2017, an article published by la Repubblica[43] brought back to light his past back as a porn actor, giving life to a media case.[44][45] The story was taken up by numerous newspapers around the world.[46]

In 2020, writer Walter Siti [it] published La natura è innocente - Due vite quasi vere.[47] This book contains a double biography, told in alternate chapters, in which one of the two biographies is that of Ruggero Freddi[48]

Personal life

In 2015, he married Prince Giovanni Fieschi Ravaschieri Del Drago [it] in Porto.[49] In 2016, he remained his widower.[50]

During his participation at Pomeriggio Cinque,[51] he proposed to his partner, Gustavo Leguizamon [Wikidata].[52] The civil union was celebrated on May 4, 2018[53] and was broadcast live from Pomeriggio Cinque[54]
