Carlos Fernández Chicote
Carlos Fernández Chicote, better known as Chicote CFC (Alcorcón, Madrid, 1963) is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist. He develops his main activity in the field of painting and photography, and has also made sculptures and engravings. He is the founder of symbiotic art, which fuses photography and painting.[1][non-primary source needed] He has participated in several group and individual international exhibitions. His work is part of museums and institutions.
Career[edit]
Educated at the "Centro de Estudios Juan XXIII" in Alcorcón (Madrid), at the age of 12 he began to draw. Self taught, in 1984 he entered the "Centro de Estudios Académicos de Arte - Artium" in Madrid, directed by the painter Eduardo Peña.[2][not in citation given]
His first collective exhibitions date from the 80's (Eureka Gallery, Durán Gallery). It was also at this time that he began to participate in the Nífer bulletin as an art critic and collaborator on artistic issues. He has developed a long career as a graphic designer, photographer and painter encouraged by his travels.[3][non-primary source needed] His works are "the result of extreme observation, highly reflective, with an irresistible need to exteriorize concerns".[4][non-primary source needed]
His specialization as a photographer and the knowledge acquired in the main software supports allowed him to formulate the "symbiotic art" or "symbiotism" in 2012. "Symbiotism" is a painting applied by digital means whose total or partial basis is the collage of one or more modified photographs taken by the same artist. The "symbiotic" artist is a painter and a photographer, and "is equally interested in both disciplines. He does not wish to depart from either of them, but rather to create a single one using both".[5][non-primary source needed]
With a work " deep in textures, chromatic tonalities without limits, punctual reflections and subtle transparencies"[6][non-primary source needed] it is from 2016 when he turns to show his work with several international exhibitions in a " miscellany of passions and artistic supports ".[7][non-primary source needed] He has exhibited in Luxembourg, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, USA, Mexico, France, Taiwan and Spain.[8][non-primary source needed]
