Carlos Lopez, is a Louisiana-based painter. Known for his creative use of inanimate objects, recently the oyster shell, Carlos is able to depict fine art with a surrealistic flair. He has shown in numerous venues and galleries while currently being displayed full-time at Gallery Orange in New Orleans and Atelier Gallery in Newport, RI. Carlos has been featured in numerous magazines including the cover of Where New Orleans magazine. He is often compared with painters such as Salvador Dalí, and Georgia O'Keeffe.

Early life

Carlos Lopez was born in Honduras. His mother was able to come to America when he was young, and eventually brought him to Louisiana, where he still resides today. While in High School, he was accepted as a part-time student at The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. He then went on to study at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts where he was under the direction and mentorship of renowned master painter, Auseklis Ozols. Although having true talent and creativity at a very young age, Carlos credits the Academy for giving him the technique he is able to show in his current works.
