Carmine Sabia (born November 26, 1977) is an American journalist, commentator, and podcaster.[1] He is best known as a senior editor at Conservative Brief and host of Explain America, a daily YouTube news show featuring conservative analysis and interviews with public figures. Sabia is also the author of Programmed to Obey: How TV Destroyed America's Soul, a forthcoming book about media influence on American culture and politics.[2]
Early life and education
Sabia was born in Livingston, New Jersey, and raised in Newark.[3] His family experienced financial hardship during his youth, which he credits with shaping his conservative outlook. He attended St. Francis Xavier School through eighth grade, Seton Hall Preparatory School for two years, and Belleville Senior High School, graduating in 1996.
Rather than attend college, Sabia entered the real estate business with his mother, Grace Sabia, investing in property across northern New Jersey.[4]
Early ventures
At 18, Sabia founded Stars & Stripes Championship Wrestling (SSCW), an independent wrestling promotion based in New Jersey.[5] He worked with wrestlers including Bret "Hitman" Hart, Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Sensational Sherri, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, Chris Candido, The Iron Sheik, Bad News Brown, and Jay Lethal.
Career
Sabia developed an early interest in conservative politics and talk radio, listening to Rush Limbaugh and Bob Grant with his mother. He became known on Twitter for political commentary and debates with public figures, which led to his discovery by BizPac Review, who offered to train him as a writer.[6]
He worked with BizPac Review until 2017, then joined The Federalist Papers Project as managing editor. In 2019, Sabia became senior editor at Conservative Brief, where he writes and edits news and opinion articles from a conservative perspective.[7]
He later joined Explain America, the video and podcast arm of Conservative Brief, where he presents daily political commentary and interviews. His guests have included filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza and Rep. Nancy Mace (R–S.C.).[8]
Views and commentary
Sabia identifies as a Christian conservative and supporter of Israel.[9] His writings often address faith, American exceptionalism, media influence, and criticism of progressive politics.
