Carrier Command 2 is a vehicle simulation/real-time strategy video game developed by Geometa[1], published by MicroProse[2]. It is a sequel to the 1988 Carrier Command.

Plot[edit]

The game takes place on an unnamed planet in outer space, where the terrorist organization "STANZA" has taken over control of one of two carriers patrolling between the 64 islands in the archipelago, planning to conquer it. The player's job is to take the other carrier and stop it.

The background to this scene is told through in-game "transmissions"; Earth's government (the "UEC") is threatened to be destablized by aforementioned terrorist organization "STANZA", who in their early years performed clandestine recruitment and networking, to eventually execute a concurrent overwhelming attack on all of the UEC's resources.

Gameplay[edit]

The game can be played Singleplayer, or Multiplayer, with the latter allowing simultaneous Cooperative and/or Competitive play.

The player's sole method of engagement is through the carrier's bridge, commanding and controlling air vehicles and amphibious surface vehicles. These vehicles can be ordered to autonomously patrol or proceed to waypoints, but they can also be manually controlled by a player, allowing for a blend of real-time strategy and vehicle simulation.

Engagements are centered around capturing and managing islands, whom produce resources such as fuel, ammo, and vehicle parts, this adds a layer of logistics management.

Reception[edit]

Early review coverage indicates that the game is more enjoyable in multiplayer. While single-player gameplay is possible, it is made difficult by the many roles the player has to perform simultaneously.[3][4]
