Personal Life[edit]
Marriage[edit]
Breves met his husband in Yale University where they were both a part of the a cappella group - The Duke's Men of Yale (now known as Doox of Yale). They got engaged at their University apartment on the 4th July. This was revealed in a Q+A about their relationship - linked here. They had also engraved their initials into the apartment stairs - it is believed they are still there.
They kept their relationship quiet. Tsui announced his sexuality and impending marriage to Breves via a YouTube video - linked here.[4]
Casey's Announcement:
"I'm getting married today! Really excited/nervous for the ceremony and so grateful for all the love and support from our family and friends and people around the world! Will share wedding pictures soon!"[5]
Casey's music group which he was a part of between 2010-2013 and for a short tour as a guest artist in 2015, Chanticleer, wished him congratulations in their blog.
Child[edit]
Sam Tsui and Casey Breves announced the birth of their first daughter via an Instagram post and they released a song for her.[6]
Sam's Announcement
"I am overjoyed to introduce you to our daughter, Elaia.
Casey and I have always known we wanted to have a family someday, and so it is with the fullest of hearts that we can finally share the exciting news that our household has officially grown by one! We were lucky enough to be present for her birth on June 11th and to help welcome this incredible little girl into the world. Becoming her parents is the greatest joy, honor, and privilege of our lives. I can say without a doubt this is the greatest love and devotion either of us has ever felt.
We’re so excited to share more about our journey into fatherhood with you, but for now, we’ve written a little song for our daughter that’s out now! Elaia (ἐλαία) means “olive tree” in Classical Greek (I bet you can’t guess which of us picked the name!) and the song, “The Olive Tree” is a lullaby we wrote for her - the first of many, I’m sure."
Song written for Elaia - Olive Tree[6]
Sam and Casey also have a cat - Alife.[7] Alfie day was decided by some of Sam and Casey's fans on the premier of their 'Butter' A capella cover. Alfie Day is on the 6th June (started in 2021).
Education[edit]
Breves attended Yale University, where he joined the a cappella group [8]- The Duke's Men of Yale (now known as Doox of Yale). This is where he met his husband Tsui.
He graduated from Yale in 2009, with a Bachelors degree in Music[2] (followed by, now husband, Tsui, in 2011).
