Character biography[edit]
Cassandra Gillespie was the daughter of a weapons manufacturer rival of Howard Stark. While Tony Stark was studying at the University of Cambridge, Tony and Cassandra got to know each other better, causing her to develop real feelings for him.
She invited Tony Stark to have dinner with her family. At the end of the evening, Tony Stark and the Gillespies were attacked by Hydra forces, who had targeted Cassandra's mother because she had "betrayed" their cause. Tony Stark managed to take a gun from one of the Gillespies' fallen bodyguards and kill a Hydra soldier who had Cassandra's mother at gun point; however, Cassandra's father, Giorgio Gillespie, was allegedly severely wounded during the shootout.
After learning of Tony Stark's involvement with the Gillespie Howard forced his son to return to America. Tony Stark eventually managed to slip away and travel to England, where he reunited with Cassandra and planned to go off the grid.[2] During their cruise Cassandra confessed to Tony that while she held feelings for him, their relationship had started as a ploy of her mother. Tony stormed off the boat to get away from Cassandra, who tried to convince her that her feelings were real, but to no avail. Forces of S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Howard Stark soon appeared on the bay to recover Tony Stark and arrest Cassandra. They were interrupted by an assault from Hydra forces which abducted Cassandra during a shoot-out with S.H.I.E.L.D. That was the last Tony saw of Cassandra for decades.[3]
Years later, Tony Stark as the super hero Iron Man, crossed paths with Cassandra he was trying to find out about his true parentage.[4] As Cassandra was trying to make a arms deal with international terroist she sent Mandroids managed to stop Iron Man's interference but she was defeated. Cassandra attempted to escape, but she was intercepted in her car by Friday, who was controlling the armour the Mandroids had previously confiscated. Gillespie was subsequently arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.[5]
Relatives[edit]
- Giorgio Gillespie - Giorgio Gillespie is the father of Cassandra Gillespie, a weapons manufacturer rival of Howard Stark. He was allegedly severely wounded during a shootout between the Gillespies' bodyguards and Hydra agents who had targeted Girogio's wife. The family appeared to have been saved by the quick action of their daughter's new friend, Tony Stark. However this was later revealed to have been an elaborate plot to get Cassandra close to Tony.
