Cassandra Gordon (born 2 November 1973) is an Australian business strategist, advisor, and facilitator. She is associated with Organisational Intelligence Group Pty Ltd, where her work focuses on organisational systems, leadership sustainability, and burnout among senior professionals.[1][2]

Early life and education

Gordon was born in South Perth, Western Australia. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Edith Cowan University in 1997 and a Master of Public Health from the University of Queensland in 2004.[3]

She has completed additional professional education in governance and risk management through the Governance Institute of Australia (2013), People Analytics at the University of Pennsylvania (2019), and Workplace Analytics and Artificial Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2024).[4]

Career

Gordon has held roles in change management, advisory, and consulting across public and private sectors. Her past positions include Senior Consultant at IBM, Director at the Australian Department of Health and Ageing, Adviser at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and change leadership roles at QBE Insurance and Sydney Water. She has also served as Change Director at Organisational Intelligence Group Pty Ltd and as a business mentor with McCarthy Mentoring.

Through Organisational Intelligence Group Pty Ltd, Gordon’s work examines the structural and cultural factors contributing to burnout and leadership strain.[5] She has argued that burnout in senior roles is frequently linked to systemic design rather than individual resilience.[6]

Her published commentary highlights shifts in work design, decision-making pressure, and the need for integrating human considerations into strategic planning.[1] She has described the importance of aligning organisational systems with human capacity and judgement to support long-term performance.[2]

In 2025, Organisational Intelligence Group Pty Ltd launched the Being Human in Business Signature Program, designed for senior professionals navigating career transition and systemic workplace strain.[7][8]

Approach and themes

Gordon’s work centres on what she describes as “humane work systems”, which emphasise clarity of responsibility, sustainable workloads, and alignment between organisational expectations and human capacity.[4] Her approach positions leadership sustainability as an organisational responsibility, focusing on system design rather than individual endurance.[3]

Personal life

Gordon resides in Sydney, New South Wales. She has been involved in mentoring children, university students, emerging leaders, and senior executives, and has participated in children’s charities and community initiatives.[4]
